Electrical resistivity study of CeZn11: Magnetic field and pressure phase diagram up to 5 GPa
نویسندگان
چکیده
Thorough resistivity measurements on single crystals of CeZn 11 under pressure p and magnetic field H are presented. At ambient pressure, CeZn 11 orders antiferromagnetically at T N = 2 K. The pressure dependence of the resistivity reveals an increase of the Kondo effect. We determine the pressure evolution of the magnetic exchange interaction between conduction and localized 4f electrons. It qualitatively reproduces the pressure evolution of the magnetic ordering temperature T O 1 (with T O 1 = T N at ambient pressure). In addition to T O 1 , a new anomaly T O 2 appears under pressure. Both anomalies are found to increase with applied pressure up to 4.9 GPa, indicating that CeZn 11 is far from a pressure induced quantum critical point. Complex T-H phase diagrams are obtained under pressure which reveal the instability of the ground state in this compound.

Upper critical field of KFe2As2 under pressure: A test for the change in the superconducting gap structure
ARTICLE TEXT SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL REFERENCES ABSTRACT We report measurements of electrical resistivity under pressure to 5.8 GPa, magnetization to 6.7 GPa, and ac susceptibility to 7.1 GPa in KFe2As2. The previously reported change of slope in the pressure dependence of the superconducting transition temperature Tc(p) at a pressure p∗∼1.8 GPa is confirmed, and Tc(p) is found to be nearly const...
متن کاملElectrical resistivity across the tricriticality in itinerant ferromagnet
We investigate the discontinuous ferromagnetic phase diagram near tricritical point in UCo1xRuxAl compounds by electrical resistivity measurements. Separation of phases in UCo0.995Ru0.005Al at ambient pressure and in UCo0.990Ru0.010Al at pressure of 0.2 GPa and disappearance of ferromagnetism at 0.4 GPa is confirmed. The exponent of temperature dependence of electrical resistivity implies chang...
متن کاملFour-probe electrical measurements with a liquid pressure medium in a diamond anvil cell.
We describe a technique for making electrical transport measurements in a diamond anvil cell using an alcohol pressure medium, permitting acute sensitivity while preserving sample fidelity. The sample is suspended in the liquid medium by four gold leads that are electrically isolated by a composite gasket made of stainless steel and an alumina-loaded epoxy. We demonstrate the technique with fou...
متن کاملPressure-induced antiferromagnetism in UPt
UPt orders ferromagnetically at ambient pressure at 28 K. Upon increasing pressure, an additional magnetic phase transition appears around 17 K. While the upper transition behaves with field as a typical paramagneticferromagnetic transition, the lower one exhibits antiferromagnetic behavior. With pressure both transitions shift towards lower temperatures. Around 1.5 GPa the upper magnetic trans...
متن کاملPressure Induced Polymorphic Phase Transition of Natural Metamorphic Kalsilite; Electrical Resistivity and Infrared Spectroscopic Investigations
We report here pressure dependence of the electrical resistivity of natural kalsilite (K0.998Na0.002Al0.998Fe0.002SiO4) from a granulite facies terrain in southern India. The electrical resistivity of kalsilite was measured with four probe technique up to 7.5 GPa at room temperature. The electrical resistivity decreases continuously with the increase of pressure up to 3.7 GPa, where there is a ...
